Sunday with Diane

It was a beautiful Fall morning so we were psyched for our 2:00 walk. Of course it started to rain on the dot of 2. Well, spit, anyway. But it passed quickly and the rain made all the colors more brilliant so it was really quite lovely. Luckily I brought my camera. We took a new route this time once atop our mountain. We stayed on Parker Hill Ave. for several blocks before turning away. We saw some wonderfully valiant roses still in bloom at the end of October. They were like Israeli roses, different colors on one bush, gorgeous. Then another bush also had these little tomato-like blooms right there with the roses. We'd never seen anything like it. More traffic than usual today on our hill, lots of cars, people, animals. A tiny puppy that bit everything in sight, including my scarf. It's a good thing she was cute as can be. And a few cats that were curled up in beds--out of doors. One was protected by barbed wire. That threw us a bit. It had been painted what would otherwise have been a friendly green but it seemed like a remnant of a distant war. When closely examined, it seemed to be protecting not only the black cat but a very nearby roof from more graffiti. We were out for 2 hours today. Ironically not much in the way of aerobic exercise but certainly muscle toning and plenty of exercise for the spirit--in more ways than one!!

Missed you Harriet and Jane and Lynn, next time. Thanks Diane for the company and portion control pep-talk! Little pieces....
