The Walk that Almost Wasn't....for me anyway.

Another sunny Sunday.  COLD, but sunny.  Everything looks and feels nicer in the sun.

Grinning groom with his happy mom.
First a little aside if you don't mind. I am writing this while having a gmail-chat with my dear friend, Chava from Israel. This is the first time we've both been on gmail at the same time. I knew her a lifetime ago when I lived in Israel in my 20s. I haven't been back since and we lost touch.  Along came Facebook (which I have not wholeheartedly embraced) but then Chava found me about a year ago! We rekindled our friendship and keep it alive--via email, for me--as if no time had passed at all. Except, of course, that her three-year-old son was about to get married (luckily he was 10 times older by the time the wedding happened.) And goodness his 50-ish parents in the wedding photos had a strange resemblance to my old friends of 25! We exchanged photos and marvelled at how great we all look! (of course we are not biased.)  And we're going to see each other in February when I return for a short visit after 27 years!
So anyway, back to the hill.  Howard, Lynn and I trodded up Parker Hill Ave, just like the old days, til we dared to take a new route.  I don't remember the name of the street, but we turned right just before the hospital.  We've been down there before but this time we didn't take our typical left back to the top of the hill, we kept going straight.  We wouldn't want to get bored.  Well we walked and walked and talked and talked.  Some college talk, of course.  (Sophia got her first acceptance letter!!!!  To Adelphi University in NY.  Not her first choice but it's exciting and at least she knows she will go to college--somewhere!)  Some new-baby talk (Lynn's going to be a grandmother next week if all goes according to schedule!!!  (a very young grandmother)  Now that's really exciting!)  Some art talk....galleries to visit, paintings to see this afternoon.  And a bit of football talk....how Howard will be glued to the tv all afternoon, and how Lynn is mildly sorry to miss the game for the galleries.  I didn't bother to mention that I wouldn't be missing the game--or watching it for that matter.  I have more important things to do, like right to all of you!

Me!
So here's a picture of me!  I think it's my first photo in this blog.  Howard is my new designated photographer.  Or should I say an iphonographer.  And he is really good.  I will keep you on pins and needles til next week and then show you a few of his works of art.  Who knew I'd married an artiste?!

Oh, what about the title, you ask?  Alvin was released from the hospital

Cabbage flower along the way
today and I was was to bring him home.  It's a story in itself along with how our coming trip to Israel came to be.  Ask me if you want to hear either.  They both have their comedic moments.  Those of you who know Alvin can believe that!
Happy Sunday!

;)
